Under Ontario's Employment Standards Act, most employees are entitled to three unpaid, job-protected sick days per calendar year once they have worked for their employer for at least two consecutive weeks. As of October 28, 2024, Ontario employers are prohibited from requiring a certificate from a qualified health practitioner meaning a physician, registered nurse, or psychologist as evidence for these three statutory sick days.
